CareSource earns URAC accreditation

DAYTON, Ohio, Feb. 7, 2006 – CareSource, Ohio’s largest Medicaid managed care plan, is pleased to announce that it has earned health plan accreditation from URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry.
URAC’s health plan standards offer a comprehensive assessment of performance. Standards include key quality benchmarks for network management, provider credentialing, utilization management, quality improvement and consumer protection.
URAC has also granted health call center accreditation to the 24-hour nurse triage service operated by CareSource Management Group and available to CareSource members. URAC’s health call center standards apply to organizations that provide triage and health information services over the telephone. The standards ensure that these services are performed in a manner that is timely, confidential, and includes medically appropriate care and treatment advice.
